Welcome to the Irish Association of Internal Medicine
The purposes of the association are
- To represent particularly the interests of physicians in the general acute hospitals.
- To provide an educational forum for such physicians to present clinical and scientific material.
- To provide meetings at which all physicians with an interest in internal medicine may come together to discuss matters of mutual interest.
- To promote adequate education and training in General Internal Medicine at all levels but in particular, in the post graduate areas of general professional training and higher medical training.
- To provide: advice to bodies responsible for post graduate training and Continuing Medical Education (C.M.E) such as the Royal College of Physicians Ireland ( R.C.P.I.) and its sub-committees, the Post-Graduate Medical and Dental Board, the Medical Council and the Department of Health and Health Service Executive (H.S.E)
- To nominate members to these bodies as requested.
- To maintain and develop links for the purpose of information and collaboration with national and international bodies relevant to the activities of the association
Membership is open to all physicians (Consultants, trainees or retired doctors ) who work or have worked in hospitals in Ireland and have as part of their workload admitted acute general internal medical patients
